Course Description:

 

This course will provide the student with necessary Electronic Fabrication skills and techniques. The course includes comprehensive sections on safety, design techniques, hand tools, and soldering and desoldering techniques, printed circuit board fabrication and printed circuit board assembly techniques, chassis fabrication, electronic troubleshooting techniques. The completion of a specified project and its report, with all related testing procedures, will ensure that the student will experience almost every situation likely to develop in the work environment.

Assignment #1

 
 

In this assignment you will populate the board and ensure its functionality.

Due Date: Announced in class.

Estimated Time To Complete: 2 hours

 

Assignment #2

 
 

You must find each of the parts listed on Digikey, Allied, Future and Newark to provide the supplier's part#, cost/unit and calculate the entire project cost.

You must further download the data sheets (to be used in your final report) for some of the component. They are identified in the assignment sheet.

Estimated Time To Completion: 2 hours

Note: No class time will be provided for this assignment. You must use either the computer lab, library computer, open access lab or your personal computer.

 

 

Term Project - Hand Held Function Generator

 

 

 

The main project for this course is to produce a hand held function generator. You will manufacture, drill and populate a PCB, drill the hand held enclosure. This will be done using hand tools, power tools, a soldering iron and assembly documents. The project is to be tested using a digital scope and secured into the hand held enclosure.

A final report is required for this project.
